A Lifetime of Dedication

Norantyki is a blending of the proprietor’s surname with the plural of Polish word Antyk, meaning old or ancient - a word synonymous with quality, history and academic interest. Following from this broad stroke, the intention here is to create a portal of sorts, which the discerning collector can use not only to access both a wide set of curated wears from across the collectables spectrum, but also a wealth of knowledge which they can leverage in assembling their optimal ‘cabinet’ - whether it be filled with coins, notes, stamps, medals, watches or antiquities.

Alexander Noran has been active in the collectables / alternative investment industries since 2007. Starting off as a collector (as many in this field do) in the 1990s, he quickly made the jump to dealing professionally with a firm in Montreal, Canada - mainly due to the wide exposure to material that he could enjoy as a result. Here, he was interviewed in 2013 by the Journal de Montreal to comment on the discontinuation of the Canadian penny.

This love of the achievements of human civilisation has guided every part of his life since - from employment, to education. Graduating in 2015 with an MA in Archaeology from University College London (UCL), during which time he was a cataloguer in the Coins and Medals Department of the British Museum, he got deeply involved in the London stamp trade.

Following graduation, Alexander transitioned from the direct trade in physical objects to something a little more abstract when he joined a firm specializing in precious metals based in Warsaw, Poland. Becoming a regular contributor to a couple of popular Polish alternative investment publications, it was here that an understanding of the items themselves was paired with a deep technical understanding of markets and market mechanisms. Missing the hands-on of the over-the-counter trade, Alexander returned to London to work with a major coin and stamp retailer in 2018, and now divides his time between the two countries - a change of pace that has culminated in this site.

The primary function of Norantyki is to offer numismatic and philatelic consulting services - this can be anything from research, to description, to authentication, or evaluation. We have worked with several major museums and auction houses, not to mention individual collectors across Europe, the UK and North America, both advising and providing content in a variety of areas. Whether you are looking for assistance, prep to final product follow-through, or simply advice with a view to holding, curating, displaying or selling material, we here at Norantyki are well-positioned to give you the tools with which to best accomplish your aims.

As with anybody involved with the trade, I have over the past decades accumulated a large amount of material, of which here present a curated offering. So please sit back, have a browse, and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, or approach us with any projects you might have!
