Roman Empire - AR Antoninianus of Elagabalus (218-22AD)

€120.00

Offered is a lovely silver Antoninianus of Elagabalus, struck at Rome in 218-22AD, and being of the ‘FIDAS MILITVM’ type, RIC#72, SP#7488. Well struck on a chunky flan, this example represents the end of the era of true Antonini, or ‘Double Denarii,’ as this denomination would become nothing more than a silver washed billon coin not long later. Exceptional centering and good detail make this a very appealing example of this scarcer ‘radiate bust’ obverse type indeed.
