Offered is an appealing Victory type (VICT PARTHICAE) silver Denarius struck at Laodicea in 198AD under the reign of Emperor Septimius Severus, Sear#6373, RIC#514, BMCRE#288, RSC#741. This type was issued to celebrate victory against the Parthian Empire, as part of a propaganda blitz intended to tighten Severus’ grip on power. A very solid example with a lovely old cabinet patina.
