Offered is an appealing Victory type (VICT PART MAX) silver Denarius struck at Rome in 204AD under the reign of Emperor Septimius Severus, Sear#6372, RIC#295, BMCRE#223, RSC#744. This type was issued to celebrate victory against the Parthian Empire, as part of a propaganda blitz intended to tighten Severus’ grip on power. A very solid example on a good planchet, with a lovely old cabinet patina.
