Roman Empire - Sestertius of Gordian III (241-42AD)
Offered is a 28mm Sestertius, struck at Rome under the reign of Gordian III in 241-42AD, SEAR#8731, RIC#306a, Hunter#114. This example of the ‘Emperor advancing with spear and globe’ type retains lovely portrait detail, as well as a wholesome, original patina. Of note is that the reverse is double-struck with a planchet shift, making for an interesting display of the type. A very solid example, and very pleasing ancient.
