Offered is a high-grade example of the Aequitas-type (AEQVITAS AVGG) silver Antoninianus issued at Rome under the reign of Emperor Philip I ‘the Arab’ in 245-47AD, Sear#8918, RIC#27b, RSC#9, Hunter#25. Other than being fully struck and well-centred on an even planchet, this piece retains near as struck detail, as well as considerable lustre. Although Philip was a prolific issuer (especially of Antoniniani), examples of any type at this grade level, and with this degree of eye-appeal are something of an ask. A fantastic type or portrait coin alike!
