Offered is a wonderful example of Margian stone art from ca. 2500-1500BC. This stone Bactrian Camel’s head measures 45mm x 30mm, and makes ingenious use of the natural variance in the stone to add character to the facial features. As there is no indication of it having been removed from a larger piece, we are here assuming it to be an amulet or votive item.
A thoroughly charming piece, this item would mount very nicely.
Ex. Coincraft (2014). Style similar to Met item no: 53.117.1.
