Offered is an interesting vertical pair of 10 Livre ‘Assignat’ notes, issued by the French Revolutionary government in1792, Pick#A66, Lafaurie#161. These notes were one of the earlier types for the series, in which ‘Domaines Nationaux,’ or ‘National Domaines’ still appears as the backing asset - this pretence was eventually dropped as inflation made the pretence of backing impossible. Fully embossed, this issued pair appears to have circulated for some time, suffering from considerable splitting (not unusual for these, as the paper is very thin), while still remaining appealing overall.
