George I 1718 Halfpenny - Obverse 'Bs' for 'Es' Variety

Offered is a very interesting 1/2 Penny coin issued under the reign of George I, KM#549. This example displays substantial die cracks in the letter Es on the obverse, giving an inscription which reads ‘GBORGIVS RBX.’ This specimen appears to be a later die state of the example which appeared as lot #13002 in HA sale #410 (2006). All in all, a fascinating piece for the specialized collector.
