Offered is a lovely, higher-grade 1763 Threepence, struck under the reign of King George III, KM#591, SP#3753. This example retains excellent detail and surfaces, with a gentle patina of greys and russets beginning to bloom. Interestingly, this piece displays an overstrike in the 3 of the date, but the underlying character is not clear enough for us to confidently identify it (a similar example was sold by London Coins in 2024). These are often sold as Maundy coins, but in fact presentation pieces were not any different than the circulation issues during this period - this being said, this example, owing to grade, would make a great Maundy type piece. A cracking piece for the type or specialized collector alike!
