Offered is an unusual countermarked 1969 50 New Pence coin, apparently gifted as a love token to one ‘Angela’ that same year, KM#913, SP#H1. As these coins were introduced to replace the then current 10/- notes as part of decimalization, perhaps something in the novelty of this chunky transition piece caught the imagination of the countermarker. Although this issue is known to have been subject to various types of political countermarking, love tokens remain decidedly scarce. An interesting piece.
