Offered is a splendid example of the ever-popular 1849 ‘Godless’ Florin (2/-), struck under the reign of Queen Victoria, KM#745. This type caused some controversy when issued owing to the omittance of ‘DEI GRATIA’ from her majesty’s obverse inscription. Today, we feel that this can be excused owing to the absolutely masterful rendition of the young Queen executed by William Wyon.
This example virtually as-struck, with excellent detail and considerable (albeit in some places ‘baggy’) white luster. An extremely appealing example of this perennially sought type.
