Offered is a lovely example of the 1889 silver Double Florin (also known as the barmaid’s misery or ruin, owing to its value being 1/- less than a Crown, but also being of very similar size and weight), displaying the ‘inverted 1 for I in VICTORIA’ variety, KM#763, SP#3923. Although not rated substantially higher than the normal variant in most references, we can anecdotally say that this is a scarce variety, and with this example remaining particularly nice. In all an interesting, quality silver.
