Nova Scotia 1838 Penny Token - ICG F-12
Offered is a handsome example of the 1838 ‘Trade & Navigation’ Penny token, said to have circulated in Nova Scotia, CH#NS-22, BR#967. Although this type was struck for use in British Guyana, these tokens made it to the maritime provinces through trade with the West Indies, with this tokens status as a Canadian piece being solidified by late 19th century collectors and cataloguers. Retaining a lovely, even mahogany patina, as well as reasonable, even wear, this example has been slabbed as F-12 by ICG.
