Offered is an exotic, 22mm, 11.4g silver Rupee, struck at Hyderabad under the reign of Afzal-ud-Daulah as the 5th Nizam, KM#C91. Afzal-ud-Daulah was known as a reformer - establishing a central treasury, schools, institutions, and generally reviewing and restructuring state bureaucracy extensively during this 12-year reign.
This chunky hammered silver bears the AH date of 1273 (1857AD), and the reignal year 18 - the latter of which would remain frozen across the 3-year issue. Generally, all important information is struck on the flan (not always the case), and detail is generally good. This example has developed a lovely golden tone between the characters, lending it superb eye-appeal.
