Offered is an exceedingly unusual 1970 cover sent from Cambridge Bay (then a Hudson’s Bay Company outpost) to the UK, bearing the commemorative 6 cent issue for the centennial of the Northwest Territories, SG648. Cambridge Bay was founded by the HBC in 1921 in the NWT (now Nunavut), and today has a population of around 1500, making it a small settlement indeed. This interesting piece of postal history is signed by the store manager at the time (also served as the post office / postmaster), and bears both a unique cachet and cancel. A fantastic piece of both Canadian and arctic interest.
