Offered is a imposing 1812 Penny issued by J. M. Fellows in Nottingham, Withers#940, Davis#16. This large token was engraved by the great Peter Wyon, and remains one of the more refined commercial tokens of the early 19th century. Also of note is that the banking firm of Mr. Fellows (through many mergers and acquisitions) would become Lloyds Bank in 1891.

In all an above average example for the type, which although suffering from a couple of typical minor edge bruises and a spot at 1 on the obverse, retains a wholesome, original patina and much good detail.
