Sheffield (Yorkshire) 1813 Roscoe Place Penny - Withers#1051a

€70.00

Offered is an interesting Roscoe Penny token, issued at Sheffield in 1813, Withers#1051a, Davis#145. Roscoe Place was a large foundry complex which appears to have been home to numerous manufacturers of iron and steel products - the property was auctioned in 1858 when it was first consolidated, and then redeveloped in the 1890s. This token the scarcer year of an already scarce type, with condition being as good as can be hoped for from one of these. An unusual and appealing piece.
