Austria (Polish Piasts) 1265-70 Silver Pfennig of Wladislaus Von Schlesien
Offered is a fascinating Bracteate silver Pfennig issued in 1265-70 by Archbishop Wladislaus Von Schlesien (of the Polish Piast dynasty, also known as Ladislaus of Salzburg or Wladislaus Wroclawski) for use in Friesach, CNA I:Ca40. This piece was struck in Krems, and features the Piast spread eagle on the obverse, as well as a bust of the Bishop facing (scarcely visible, as on all examples) on the reverse.
With a regular flan, and a superb, old patina, this choice example is certain to appeal to collectors of a wide range of interest owing to its enormous crossover interest. The issues of Wladislaus are quite scarce, and examples this nice scarcely come to market, making this an opportunity not to be missed!
