Offered is a pleasing 30mm silver Quart d’Ecu, struck at Angers in 1607 under the reign of Henri IV as part of what was then the new push to a reformed Ecu-based coinage (mm ‘F,’ monneyer ‘acorn’), Duplessis#1224, KM#27-29. Although displaying some typical weakness of strike and peripheral doubling, this example is unclipped and all-original, being a visually superior example of the type. In all, an interesting and handsome hammered silver.
