Offered is a charming, ca. 1750-1800 mother of pearl gaming counter or chip, engraved with pagoda scene and geometric pattern. These were largely manufactured in China for export to the UK, where they were very popular during the Georgian period - a time where, incidentally, gambling enjoyed extremely widespread popularity. Fine engraving, a somewhat naive style, and wonderful overall condition round out this lovely piece.
