El Salvador ca 1922 Coffee Plantation 10 Cent Token

€15.00

Offered is an interesting 10 Cent token from the Rafael Alvarez LaLinde & Sons coffee plantation, located on the slopes of the Santa Ana volcano in El Salvador, TC#280856. Rafael Alvarez moved to the area from Colombia after purchasing the Malacara plantation in the late 19th century, renaming it to the Medellin plantation. The name on this token was adopted for the firm in 1922, and the plantation is still operated by Rafael’s descendants to this day. A lovely albeit somewhat obscure piece.
