Mexico 1738 MO / MF Silver 8 Reales

€700.00

Offered is a stunning 1738 Mexico City mint ‘Pillar’ type 8 Reales - being one of the most iconic coins ever issued, KM#103. This piece is certainly a wreck coin, and indeed was offered to us as being from the Hollandia - although we have no supporting documents, several die diagnostics suggest that at the very least, this piece was from the same batch of fresh 1738s that were aboard the ill-fated ship. Although bearing ‘saltwater’ surfaces, this example retains excellent detail, being near as struck in that regard. A fantastic and classic world silver Crown.
