Caravelle (Bulova) 1978 'Devil Diver' Men's Wristwatch

€500.00

Offered is an absolutely fantastic, all-original 37×42mm (excluding crown) all-stainless, automatic day-date men’s Set-O-Matic dive watch, produced in 1978 by Caravelle (a Bulova subsidiary). This piece is from Bulova’s legendary line of 'Devil Divers,’ so-called because of their waterproof rating of 666 feet. This ‘dual-day' example features an all-stainless tonneau case, as well as brushed stainless dial, bi-directional black / red bezel, and a signed screw-down crown. This piece is mounted on a period-correct stainless mesh bracelet.

These sought-after divers come in numerous variants, meaning that they are generally available. What the enthusiast will likely note though, is that these were almost invariably hard-worn, and are virtually never seen in as-new condition, as this example comes to us. It is impossible to understate the scarcity of NoS or near NoS examples of this diver-line, making this piece an extreme condition rarity. The bezel is vibrant, as is the orange seconds hand, with the dial, case, and date wheels all as they left the factory or very near so. The automatic Caravelle 1133.50 (ETA 2879) movement has recently been serviced, and is working flawlessly. An absolutely superb example of a sought vintage dive watch.
