Longines 1950s 'Tank' Style Men's Wristwatch on Mesh Strap
Offered is a handsome Longines rectangular ‘Tank’ style watch from the latter part of the 1950s. Measuring 40mm lug-to-lug, and 25mm across (excluding the crown, this piece has a good wrist feel, and makes its presence known without being imposing. The sub-seconds indicator and textured dial serve up some distinctive flair, while retaining the formal overall appearance of this watch.
This piece is mounted on a scarce and desirable Kreisler GF mesh band - a much sought after period upgrade - which lends a lot to what is already a distinctive timepiece.
The case bears wear commiserate with age, as well as a presentation inscription on the reverse from the ‘Shawinigan Water and Power Company’ from 1960. The dial, for its part, would benefit from a cleaning, but is wholly intact. The 17-jewel hand-wound movement has recently been serviced, and is keeping fantastic time.
