Solid 18k Gold Swiss Chronograph Wristwatch Ca. 1948
Offered is a very appealing 18k gold 38mm-cased, 17 jewel Swiss chronograph wristwatch, dating from the early post-war period (1946-50). This piece is equipped with the venerable Venus 170 movement, which was also used in the likes of contemporary Breitlings, etc. Unfortunately, the movement, although clean is wound tight and in need of a complete service (as this movement saw considerable usage across numerous brands, parts should not be an issue. There is a spacer around the movement (not imaged here).
The case, although bearing some dents, is generally in reasonable condition for the period. The dial is in immaculate, all-original condition, and the pushers are remarkably good for a watch of this type, as they are here (unusually) also solid gold. The watch is on a new leather band, and would make a fantastic restoration project owing the the great overall eye-appeal of this piece.
