Offered is a silver ‘Concordia’ type Denarius, struck at Rome under Hadrian in the name of his wife Sabina, RIC#398, BMCRE#895, RSC#12, UCR#403, SEAR#3919. This piece features Concordia enthroned, holding patera & resting on statuette of Spes, inscription CONCORDIA AVG on the reverse, as well as the Empress’ diademed and draped bust, surrounded by SABINA AVGVSTA HADRIANI AVG PP. Good remaining detail, and a wonderful, original, rich gunmetal patina round out this very wholesome example.
