Roman Empire - Sestertius of Severus Alexander (228AD)
Offered is a 28mm Sestertius, struck at Rome under the reign of Severus Alexander in 228AD, SEAR#7993, RIC#465, BMCRE#425. This example of the Pax ‘PMTRPVICOSIIPP’ type displays a remarkably strong reverse for the type, but unfortunately was struck on a smaller planchet, and as such, displays partial inscriptions. Fully identifiable, and bearing a lovely green patina, this would make a great addition to a study of the reign.
