Britain - 1845 Anti-Corn Law League Medalet
Offered is a very scarce 1845 zinc, 18mm medalet issued to commemorate the Anti-Corn Law League’s ‘Free Trade Bazaar,’ held at Covent Garden Market in London. One theory postulates that these tokens represented a combined admission ticket / souvenir of the event. Although they do occasionally come to market, they tend to be in much poorer condition than this example, which retains impressive detail for the age and material.
Ref: British Museum, Montague Guest Catalog # MG1463, People’s History Museum #nmlh.1995.91.64.
