Offered is a very scarce and unusual 57mm medal, designed by the famed Percy Metcalfe, and struck by the Royal Mint in 1947 for the Royal Society of Arts, Eimer#2074. This wonderful, late-deco medal has the distinction of featuring the only official medallic depiction of HM before she ascended to the throne.

This example essentially as struck, with a lovely antiqued patina which lightens on the devices, and including the original box / an old sales disc. The edge of this particular piece is inscribed ‘JILL GWENDOLINE EMERY, INTERMEDIATE EXAMINATIONS, 1951, TYPEWRITING.’ An absolutely wonderful medal, and a notable piece of Royal history which is not often seen at market.
