Charles I 1625-43 Hammered Silver Penny
Offered is a hammered Penny from the ill-fated reign of Charles I, Tower Mint, KM#80.1. Although pierced, this piece retains much good detail, and sports a most attractive, original patina. Interestingly, many holed coins of this reign are as a result of them having been used as either royalist mementos during the civil war, or as touch pieces during the period of the Commonwealth. All in all, a fascinating and attractive piece.
