George III 1774 Contemporary Counterfeit Halfpenny

$70.00
sold out

Offered is a very pleasing, die struck contemporary counterfeit 1/2d, immitating KM#601. This piece is of fine style, and correct size / weight, but by the position of the inscription versus the devices, it would seem that the counterfeiter used a George III Farthing as a model. In exceptional condition for a coin of this nature, this example (not listed in Coleman) would make a great addition to a specialized collection, or as an adjunct to a study of the regal issues.
