Italy - Papal States 1831 R Silver Scudo Coin - NGC UNC
Offered is a beautiful 1831 Scudo issued under Pope Gregory XVI, KM#1315.1. This intricate Crown-sized .917AR bears the famed ‘presentation of baby Jesus’ reverse - a scarce type indeed as it only lasted through 3 low-mintage years (1831: 10 634pcs).
Although at some point improperly cleaned (the rule rather than the exception with coins of this type), this example retains fantastic detail, and remains otherwise problem free. All in all, a fantastic example of an artistically impressive design, which has the added benefit of having been authenticated by NGC.
