Offered is a particularly attractive 27mm copper AS minted in Rome under the reign of Domitian in 90-91AD, SEAR#2807, RIC#395, BMCRE#449. This type depicts Moneta standing with cornucopia and scales, surrounded by inscription ‘MONETA AVGVSTI / SC,’ as well as the Emperor as August, surrounded by inscription ‘IMPCAESDOMITAVGGERMCOSXVCENSPERPP.’

A particularly fine example of this type, this piece exhibits superb surfaces for a period of bronze which is generally found environmentally damaged. Between a lovely chocolate patina and pleasing remaining detail, this superior example would make a great portrait coin or addition to a more specialized study of a complex reign.
