Offered is the 1864-79-issued Penny rose-red Queen Victoria definitive, being from plate 111, and bearing a scarce Copestake corporate underprint, SG43, SPEC#PP23. Copestake, Moore, Crampton & Co. were a London drapers, and these underprints were applied as a security device to prevent theft by employees. These are generally found with faults (particularly perf issues owing to manual seperation), but this example is as pretty much as fine as they come. A lovely piece.
