George III 1774 Contemporary Counterfeit Farthing

$125.00

Offered is an intriguing 1774 (date not on flan on this example) counterfeit Farthing, imitating the then current King George III type, Coleman#CF-1774b. This type, on thin flan, was actually struck using a very convincing obverse, and somewhat ‘naïve’ reverse dies. This example exceptional in terms of grade, even retaining some lustre, which clings near to the devices (all but unheard of for these). Coleman suggests a retail of $250++ in his 2015 work, here offered much less optimistically.
