Canada 1812 Colonial Wellington Peninsular Token, CH#WE-11B2
Offered is an example of a Wellington ‘Peninsular’ token (2nd group) produced after the Duke’s victory at Madrid, but before ‘Cuidad’ was corrected on the dies, CH#WE-11B2. These tokens were struck by Halliday, and found their way to the Canadas in 1814 when troops previously stationed in Europe were redeployed to fight the Americans. A solid piece with extensive military, colonial, and Canadian interest.
