Offered is a very unusual 32x19mm aluminium bread token from Metabetchouan, Quebec. This piece was issued by Joseph Leclerc’s bakery during the great depression, and was the higher of the two denominations issued (the other recorded being a 1/2 loaf token). Mr Leclerc was a prominent resident of Metabetchouan, who was in fact mayor of St Jerome from 1949 to 1954, and owned other businesses in the region, including a mill and a grocery store. A rare token, and a as of yet unrecorded type.
