Newfoundland 1865 Silver 20 Cent Coin

$250.00

Offered is an absolutely lovely sterling silver 20c coin from the Canadian province of Newfoundland (here as a crown colony). Although 100 000 of these coins were struck, they tended to circulate long and hard (often being fobbed off in surrounding provinces as a 25 cent piece, owing to the similarity in size), and thus examples in grades above Fine are something of an ask.

This example, being a strong EF, is certainly something of a grade rarity. Add to this the superior eye-appeal of this example, as well as the fact that there is still mint bloom visible between the devices, and you have a ‘a buy it once, buy it right’ type of coin. Certainly an opportunity for the discerning collector!
