France 1417 Blanc Guenar Silver Hammered Coin
Offered is a French silver Blanc Guenar, being of the 5th issue (10 May 1417), issued under the reign of Charles VI (1380-1422), Tournai mint (mint mark under the 16th letter in reverse), Dup#377D, Roberts#2981. This piece has not been clipped (a scourge of these issues), and thusly retains it’s full 21mm diameter and 3.09g of weight. Inscriptions read +KAROLVS FRANCORV REX on the obverse, and +SIT NOME DNI BENEDICTV on the rev. A lovely old patina and original surfaces really add to the eye appeal of this medieval hammered silver.
