Offered is a BU example of the .900AR commemorative Franc, struck on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the French Republic, KM#1005, CGF#F5.1001.4. Erroneously underrated in Krause, the BU silver strike of this issue is a modern rarity (recognised in Gadoury and CGF). This discrepancy is due to the fact that the much more popular proof version represented the bulk of sales for this commemorative, meaning that very few of the BUs found homes, leading to their eventual destruction. This example as-struck, and in original capsule of issue, but without original blue case. A lovely modern rarity.
