Offered is a splendid medal commemorating the 1822 The Treaty of Navigation and Commerce concluded between France and the United States of America, as Met#83.2.423, Loubat#52, Collignon#363, Ford XIV, lot 505. The treaty itself was signed by Baron Hyde de Neuville, representing Louis XVIII of France, and John Quincy Adams, representing the James Monroe and the United States.
This 51 mm, 72.2g Paris Mint official restrike likely dates to ca. 1900, and bears a lovely ochre patina. All in all, a scarce and interesting Americana-related French medal.
