Warszawskie Towarzystwo Cyklistów (Warsaw Cyclists' Society) 1936 Anniversary Badge

$150.00

Offered is a rare event badge, awarded by the Warszawskie Towarzystwo Cyklistów, or Warsaw Cyclists’s Society in 1936 to commemorate their 50th anniversary ride. The society was established in 1886 as an elite organization to promote cycling and tourism, but grew into a more populist movement spanning many sports. During the 1920 battle of Warsaw, the organization fielded 60 volunteer cyclists and their bikes, delivering around 400 field orders through the course of the engagement. The WTC is still active today.

All WTC material is scarce, but event badges are exceedingly difficult to come by (more so than awards), with many (if not most) surviving examples being damaged. This piece is in lovely, all-original condition, and even retains its suspension chain. An excellent piece of both Polish and sporting history, and one which you are unlikely to encounter again!
