Eternamatic 1958 Men's Automatic Textured Dial Wristwatch
Offered is a very unusual, early ‘5 ball’ Eterna Eternamatic automatic mechanical wristwatch. An underrated watch of superior quality to begin with, this example benefits from an extremely rare and all-original elaborate textured dial. Of further interest is that this piece was retailed though Canadian premium jeweller Birks, being signed at 6 (much more pleasing than the typical Birks branding which appears at 12), making this exceptional watch all that more special.
The watch is in good overall condition for its age, with the 34mm case displaying virtually no plate loss, and retaining a good wrist presence, especially for a timepiece of this period. The crystal displays wear consistent with age, but the dial is in excellent original condition, displaying some tasteful ageing. The famed Eterna ‘5 ball’ automatic movement works perfectly, with the rotor zipping as freely as when it left the factory. The back is inscribed, and the watch is on a lovely burgundy leather band. An exceptional watch (not your average Eternamatic) which would make an excellent daily wearer for the discerning collector.
