Lord Elgin 1944 On Original 'Classique' Bracelet
Offered is a wonderful, 1944 ‘Star’ Lord Elgin, in a 35mm (inc lugs) x 23mm 14k GF Wadsworth case. This piece represented one of Elgin’s top-of-the-line offerings, and being a wartime piece, combines elements of pre-war design with some unusual components, including the exceedingly rare ‘pointer hands.’
Being all-original, this example remains in fantastic condition - the case is brilliant, the dial displays only minor signs of age, and the crystal is superb. The 21-jewel movement winds and is acceptably accurate for a watch of this age, but can probably do with a service. Of note is that this watch is mounted on a contemporary 12k GF early ‘beads of rice’ Classique-brand bracelet, really rounding out this vintage feel of this piece.
In all, a premium example of American watchmaking, and a peak of the Elgin brand.
