Offered is a fascinating pair of 1901 colour trial blocks of the 50 Centavo official, both being imperforate part marginal imprint examples on India card, SC#O36. A great number & variety of colour trial proofs were prepared by the Compania Sudamericana de Billetes de Banco, SA (of 263 Chile Street, Buenos Aires) on both thin and thick paper - there are at least 4 colours known of this denomination. Government contracts were revolked in 1908, and the firm shut in 1918 - it is thought that the majority of the material vailable today was sold during the liquidation of the company in 1921. A lovely and interesting duo.
